Scientists have produced new maps of Jupiter using the Wide Field Camera 3 on NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. Data for the two maps shown here were taken during Hubble Outer Planet Atmospheres Legacy program observations of Jupiter on Jan. 19, 2015, from 2:00 UT to 12:30 UT (upper panel) and from 15:00 UT to 23:40 UT (bottom panel). The movement of the clouds can be seen when comparing the two maps.

About The Image
Color InfoThese images are a composite of separate exposures acquired by the WFC3 instrument on the Hubble Space Telescope. Several filters were used to sample narrow wavelength ranges. The color results from assigning different hues (colors) to each monochromatic (grayscale) image associated with an individual filter. In this case, the assigned colors are: Blue: F395N (395 nm) Green: F502N (502 nm) Red: F631N (631 nm)
